I’ve finally gotten sick of paying for all types of web services I’ve picked up for each of my projects….so I’m making quick decisions and getting rid of most of them. Most recently I got rid of typepad. I exported my posts and comments to a text file to keep locally, imported them on Facebook (just for fun, I’ve gotten a few comments, its a great distribution channel) and now to this WordPress blog…which is Free and is becoming my standard blog platform of choice.
Until I fix it, you’ll probably find that the images did not get exported or implemented. If anyone has suggestions how to avoid this the next time, that would be great.
We’ll see what Office 2.0 setup gets reestablished in the ashes…but my goal is to cut loose, consolidate and then integrate all my various “objects” floating across the Internet in one system. And to do it without having to pay many different provides, for overlapping services and space.

I’ve been focusing a lot on the concept of Feeds. A cool company I came across is FriendFeed which seems to be heading in the right direction. Important to note, these guys seem to be the real deal given their backgrounds…we’ll see given Feeds is a huge opportunity and the winner will not only have to be good, lucky and diligent…but will have to be, dare I say, immortal?!? Ok, that might have been a joke. I’ll leave you now to ponder my hyperbole with FriendFeed’s widget below:
Ok…wow, that didn’t quite work. I’ll assume it was my fault and not FriendFeeds since I blazing through this process so I can get back to what I was working on, I’ll come back to fix later.
In case someone is out there that has a suggestion, I tried to embed:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://friendfeed.com/embed/widget/wllz?message=WllzFeed"></script>
…Any suggestions would be appreciated (Typepad blog, used "edit html" feature when creating post). More to come.
All I can say now is that its a great idea, I wish these guys luck and look forward to adding my FriendFeed to my various websites.

I just came across www.cartfly.com. Looks like a great service. I have only started to play around with it as I may have a purpose for it on one of the websites I’ve been formulating. I created a quick store front and added a fictional (at this point) T-Shirt that you can buy for $25. It was real easy to use, had an interesting Flex (I believe) interface and looks pretty good. I liked the way the interface of the storefront moves when you go from section to section.

I’m testing out a new service that is in limited beta called IntenseDebate.

Please try it out and let me know if you like. Its interesting what companies like this are doing with specialized web components.
Endless opportunities out there. Where does this one fit? I’d love to hear your opinions, I’m still forming mine.

I’m planing around with Ning’s social networking platform. I haven’t found a purpose for it yet that is a tight match to the Ning platform, but I think conceptually its pretty cool. I’ve just added a "badget" from it. I believe if you click on it you can try to sign up for the network.

From time to time Channel will dig into its library and select a book to highlight. Often times these books will have been referred to Channel by one of its mentors who were acutely aware of the lessons, perspective and stories they contained and how they related to what Channel was going through at that time.
…coming soon…

Reminder: Lunch 2.0 at Yahoo! today
from Lunch 2.0 by markjen
Just a friendly reminder that we’re
heading over to Yahoo!’s Mission College Campus today (Wednesday,
February 21st) for what looks to be another great Lunch 2.0! We’ll have people from various Yahoo! teams there to host us; it should be a great time
Hope to see you all there!

It was a great event where I met some interesting folks. A few of them include:
- a table full of Yahoo Sign-in team members
- the founders of Lunch 2.0 (I’d retell the start-up story of Lunch 2.0 but bet I can find it later online somewhere) UPDATE: One of the founders Joseph Smarr wrote an entry about this recently.)
- a CEO searching for an Oracle db developer rockstar (I have one in mind, if you know of one say so in a comment and I’ll pass it on)
- a product manager from Yahoo! Publisher Network
As a result, I’ll be adding, in the theory of Practice (i.e., I’ll want to use it before helping other start-ups use it) YPN as a source for contextual ads to the Channel Blog. From my understanding its still in beta like mode where they are being very selective on the types of sites accepted into the program. Hopefully we’ll get Channel Capital Blog in there.
I may add more to this in a bit….Wrrz

From time to time I’ll add fotos of people I meet and places I see. Sometimes it will just be to share with others fotos I think are worth sharing. Other times, it may be fotos that have a point to them that I will sort in a catagory relevant to Channel Capital, LLC. In the meantime, this is somewhat of an Off topic catagory that is more about the author’s where abouts….which no doubt will influence his world perception…and thus professional path. More on that thought later…all Travel Fotos will be found at the link below, and I’ll reference some of them within blogs as time goes on.

I was having too much fun going through Amazon.com selecting boo
ks that I’ve read and plan to blog about. I’m doing this for a few reasons. Partly to go through the mental discipline of reviewing all the books I’ve read and asking myself what I learned, how it related to my experience and who/why I would refer it. Its also because I refer the books to a lot of people who actually go out and buy them….so, as part of my goal to put to practice the things I suggest to companeis I work with, I’m implementing a revenue stream for Channel’s Blog.
In doing so, I’ve signed up for an Associate Account at amazon.com and went through the process of singing up, picking content, creating a web store, etc.. Over time, I’ll have gone through the collection process and will get to see the stats of people looking vs. buying.
I also plan to do this for GoogleAd words and all the other Advertising networks out there. I do a blog on each (or each type of program) and talk about what I learned, what could be improved, who it might be right for, etc.
Check out the books in Channel’s Library! Promise me, if you don’t buy something, suggest good books I’ve missed (that I read and forgot) or that I should add to my required reading list!

One method to claim your blog for technorati is getting a url posted, such as this one:
<a href="http://technorati.com/claim/59rhyk8s79" rel="me">Technorati Profile</a>
Perhaps I’ll delete this later, or will update this blog with more info on this process.
